Dr. Edward Kusek

Dr. Kusek is a general dentist truly compassionate about continuing education and offering his patients the latest advancements in general dentistry. Born and raised in Omaha, NE, Dr. Kusek is a graduate of Creighton University, and received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry in 1984. Upon graduation, Dr. Kusek established his practice in Sioux Falls, and has been serving the Sioux Falls area for over 26 years.

Dr. Kusek enjoys being very knowledgeable in the field of restorative and implant dentistry. He began placing and restoring dental implants in 1987, and is continually advancing techniques to restore healthy, natural smiles. He holds the title of Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology, one of approximately 300 worldwide. He also holds several other higher levels of distinction including Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry, Diplomate of the International Conference of Oral Implantologists, Mastership in the World of Clinical Laser Institute, Fellowship Academy of Laser Dentistry and is an adjunct professor for the hygiene program at the University of South Dakota. Dr. Kusek is also a long time member of the American Dental Association. South Dakota Dental Association, and Southeastern Dental Society.

In 1995, Dr. Kusek completed training for conscious sedation at Miami Valley Hospital by Dr. Daniel Becker of Dayton, OH, one of the more rigorous trainings in the country.

Dr. Kusek began using laser dentistry in 2004, and has lectured nationally and internationally for organizations, such as the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the Academy of Implant Dentistry, Dentsply Friadant, International Congress of Oral Implantalogy World Clinical Laser Institute, Star of the North and University of Nebraska. He has published eleven articles including: "Use of the YSGG Laser in Dental Implant Surgery", "High Technology in Implant Dentistry, Part I", and "High Technology in Implant Dentistry, Part II". "Implant Placement in Infected Sites", "The Use of Laser Technology and Stereolithography to aide in the Placement of a Supperiosteal Implant", "Tissue-punch Technique in Non-attached Tissue using the YSGG Laser" and "Soft Tissue Management after Implant Placement", "Flapless Implant Surgery with Aesthetic Temporaries", "Estetic Crown Lengthening with Reverse Vestibuloplasty", "Immediate Implant Placement into Infected Sites: Bacterial Studies of Photoacoustic Effects of the YSGG Laser", The Er;Cr:YSGG Laser: A Perfect Fit with Implant Dentistry.

Dr. Kusek is a clinical instructor for Biolase University (laser dentistry training) and Dentsply Friadant (implant dentistry training).

Beyond dentistry, Dr. Kusek enjoys spending time with his family, distance running, golfing and traveling.

Vicki Neve: Business Office Assistant
Vicki loved growing up in the tiny town of Ethan, SD. She moved to Sioux Falls after college and met her husband and raised their three sons here. She has been involved in the dental field as both a clinical assistant and in the business office for the past 29 years (she started REALLY young!), and has been with our team for 16 years. Vicki has helped hundreds of people over the years afford the dental care that they deserve by assisting in comfortable payment options and working with their dental insurance benefits. She has attended many hours of continuing education with focus on maximizing patient benefits, and has recently become a part of Dr. Kusek's team that hosts courses and speaks to attending dentists, hygienists, and auxiliary. She is proud to be a part of a dental practice that provides the highest quality and latest technology, and she really enjoys meeting and getting to know all of the patients.

Some of Vicki's favorite things include spending time with her family, board games and Wii games (game night!), reading, camping, singing at church, and American Idol!

Tina Simunek: Patient Care Coordinator
Tina is originally from Aberdeen, SD. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from South Dakota State University, and went on to receive an associate's degree in Therapeutic Massage. She has been with our office for four years and helps patients as our receptionist and patient care coordinator. She believes the advancements in technology within dentistry are amazing, and has received her Practice Management Implant Certification through International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Tina enjoys spending time with her friends and family, and her three young children keep her very busy (ages 5, 3, and 2).

Jeanette Miranda: Dental Hygienist
Jeanette is originally from Southern Indiana, and moved to Sioux Falls in 2001. She has been in dentistry for 30 years! Jeanette received her degree in dental hygiene from Indiana University in South Bend, where she also served as a clinical instructor. She is passionate about continuing education, and using lasers to improve periodontal health. She has earned her Fellowship on Diode Laser from World Clinical Laser Institute, and also received Dental Hygiene Implant Certification through International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Jeanette recently completed her bachelor degree through Mankato State University. She also is sharing her experiences in dental lasers and implants with her peers by teaching continuing education courses. Above all, Jeanette believes helping patients strive for better oral health is the most rewarding aspect of her career!
In her spare time Jeanette stays active with her family, and enjoys reading, playing on the computer, and exercising.

Cindy Dellman: Dental Hygienist
Cindy is a graduate of USD's Dental Hygiene program and Canby Area Vocational Dental Assisting program. She also enjoyed a stint as a Dental Tech with the Naval Reserve. Cindy earned her Fellowship from World of Clinical Laser Institute and is a SDDHA Association member and officer and is a member of Academy of Laser Dentistry.

Cindy has been involved in Dentistry since 1982 and has been with our practice for seven years. She enjoys implementing the new technology Dr. Kusek brings to the office.

Cindy and her husband live on an acreage outside of Sioux Falls. In her spare time she enjoys exercising, reading, biking, 4-wheeling, horseback riding and gardening. They have two children, Amber and Andy.

Amanda Kusek: Dental Hygienist, Sioux Falls, SD
Amanda is originally from Harrisburg, SD, and completed her bachelor degree in dental hygiene at the University of South Dakota. Amanda has been a part of our team for two years. She is excited to be in the field of dentistry because she loves interacting with patients and helping patients improve their smiles. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys helping her mom at her gift boutique, playing with her black lab puppy and spending time with family and friends and of course shopping.

Judith Pastrano: Certified Dental Assistant
Judith was born and raised in Rock Valley, Iowa and is a longtime resident of Sioux Falls. She obtained a bachelor's degree from Briar Cliff College in Sioux City Iowa, and has been in the dental field for 22 years as a dental assistant. She enjoys keeping on the cutting edge of dentistry, and received her Dental Assisting Implant Certification through International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Judith is a certified dental assistant.

Judith loves working within an office that keeps up with technology so we can offer our patients the best of care. She also appreciates Dr. Kusek's dedication to continuing education for the entire staff. She says that she is thankful to be working with such a great staff and she knows that we have the BEST patients!

In her free time Judith enjoys reading, quilting, movies, and the Washington Pavillion.

Kristi Meyer: Certified Dental Assistant
Kristi is originally from in Madison, SD, and now calls Sioux Falls home. She obtained her bachelor's degree in Graphic Arts and Web Design from Dakota State University, and went on to dental assisting school at Southeast Technical Institute. Kristi has received her Dental Assisting Implant Certification through International Congress of Oral Implantologists. She says the best thing about her profession is being able to ease fearful or hesitant patients that come to our office.

In her spare time Kristi enjoys being with friends & family, husband, 2 year old daughter and newborn son, cooking, traveling, gardening, hunting and fishing.

April DeVille: Certified Dental Assistant
April is originally from Watertown, SD, and moved back to the Sioux Falls area after obtaining her dental assisting degree from Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE. She has ties to South Dakota State University and the University of South Dakota, and really enjoys being back in the area. What April loves most about dentistry is the ability to help people overcome anxiety at dental appointments, putting them at ease, and helping them improve their smiles.

In her free time, April enjoys being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, traveling, going to concerts, festivals and sporting events; especially watching her little sister play basketball and the New England Patriots!
