Same-day crowns are a type of dental restoration that is fabricated and seated in a single visit. These restorations differ from traditional crowns in that they require only one visit to complete. In traditional crowns, impressions are taken and sent to a dental lab, where the crown is fabricated. The crown is then sent back to the dentist’s office, where the patient returns to have it seated. Same-day crowns are crafted with a sophisticated machine known as CEREC® or Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics.
Having same-day crowns could be really beneficial, such as:
When you choose a same-day crown, you won’t need a temporary crown to wear while you wait for your permanent crown to be crafted. Our CEREC® machine uses CAD/CAM technology to design and create your crown right in our practice while you wait.
A temporary crown is made of plastic, and many patients dislike how temporary crowns feel in their mouths. By eliminating the need for a temporary crown, our patients have a more pleasant experience.
Same-day crowns are great for busy patients. They reduce the need for multiple appointments, so you don’t have to take time out of your busy schedule to come back again.
Same-day crowns offer patients a predictable, comfortable, and convenient restoration. The dentist will shape your tooth with advanced technology, creating a digital impression and milling your crown out of high-quality ceramic. Then, the dentist will attach it to your tooth, and you’ll leave our office with a fully restored smile.
Same-day crowns provide the convenience of getting a restoration in one visit. This allows your dentist to design your crown and then create it in one appointment.
The CAD/CAM software that we use allows us to design your crown before your visit. The doctor will use this 3D scan to design your restoration.
Same-day crowns don’t use or destroy any of the remaining healthy tooth structures. The crown is made right in our office, so we can preserve as much healthy tooth structure as possible.
With traditional crown restorations, you’ll likely need at least two visits to the dentist. During your first visit, the dentist will thoroughly clean the tooth, take impressions, and create your custom restoration. You’ll need a temporary crown while your permanent crown is being created. Once your permanent restoration is ready, you’ll come in for a second appointment. The dentist will remove the temporary crown and cement your permanent crown into place.
Same-day crowns eliminate the need for impressions. Your dentist will simply scan your tooth, design your restoration, and mill it in the office. Once it’s ready, you’ll come in for a final appointment. The dentist will remove the damaged or decayed tooth and cement your restoration into place.
