Same-day crowns are custom-made restorations that are created and placed in a single dental appointment. They are made of high-quality, durable materials that look and function just like natural teeth. With same-day crowns, patients do not have to prepare their teeth for multiple appointments, and they do not have to wear a temporary restoration between appointments. The entire process can be completed in as little as one appointment.
How Are Same-day Crowns Made?
Same-day crowns, or CEREC porcelain crowns, are made using CAD/CAM technology that is able to produce a 3D digital image of the tooth and crown. This image is used to create a crown that fits perfectly. CEREC porcelain crowns use a durable ceramic material that is color matched to surrounding teeth. These crowns provide a natural look and appearance.
The procedure starts with obtaining the digital impressions of the patient's teeth using the CEREC system. These digital impressions are very precise and accurate, thus allowing the fabrication of restoration that will fit your tooth perfectly.
After taking the digital impressions, they are sent to the computer and analyzed using 3D technology to see how the restoration will interact with your other teeth. After this, the crown is designed as per the specifications using CAD/CAM technology. This is sent to our in-house milling machine, which uses tooth-colored composite resin or ceramic material to fabricate the dental crown. The result is a dental restoration that is well-fitted, durable, aesthetic, and functional.
What Are The Advantages of Same-day Crown Service?
Same-day crowns, or all-ceramic crowns, are an excellent choice when a tooth needs a large filling. For patients that want a crown but don't want to wait weeks for a permanent restoration, same-day crowns are an excellent solution.
Same-day crowns are milled from a single block of ceramic, which eliminates the possibility of weak points or seams. This makes them incredibly durable and long-lasting.
What Dental Issues Can A Same-Day Crown Address?
Like other dental crowns, a same-day crown is also placed over the tooth to strengthen it and address the following issues:
- Broken or fractured teeth
- Severely decayed teeth
- Teeth with large fillings
- Severely worn-down teeth
- Chipped or cracked teeth
- Severely stained teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Teeth weakened after a root canal
- The teeth adjacent to a bridge
